Without an anchor we drift off course. He has called us on this journey to disciple our children through homeschooling, but we so easily go adrift. We get our eyes off Him and His calling and onto lesson plans and pages completed. We must continually remember that He is the anchor of our soul. We cannot complete our calling in our own strength. But He has provided everything we need. Sometimes that's in the form of an encouraging word from a conference speaker, the "just right" curriculum found in the Exhibit Hall, a friend giving you a hug between sessions, or the encouragement of being around so many other like-minded families. It is OCEANetwork's prayer that God will work in families at the 2013 conference as we seek to "be anchored in Christ."

We've designed this conference for you! Whether you are a beginner, experienced, or have the finish line in sight, the 2013 Oregon Christian Home Education Conference has speakers to equip you on your journey.

Workshops

We have 60+ workshops to serve you at the conference. Workshops will cover homeschool how-to, organization, family relationships, homeschool graduates, worldview training – just about anything you need to help your homeschool prosper.

We've pretty much settled on the workshops and topics for 2013, but let us know if you have workshop topics or speakers you would like to see at the 2014 conference by emailing us at mail@oceanetwork.org. It's never too early for us to be thinking about next year.

New this year: More activities for children!

Bruce IshamBruce Isham, the Historic Storyteller, is back by popular demand for the Parent/Child Classes. With his great visual props and engaging storytelling ability, he is a hit with the younger crowd. You can see a list of the stories he will be sharing with the young people (and their parents).

Science stationsIn addition to the Historic Storyteller, we're excited to announce that Twin Rocks Friends Camp is partnering with OCEANetwork to provide hands-on science learning stations for children and their parents in the Exhibit Hall. Various learning stations will be available throughout the day with more than 40 different science stations and demonstrations available during the conference. Some activities will require students to sign up for slots, so make sure to visit the Twin Rocks exhibit area with your children at the beginning of the conference. For more information on the program, visit the Twin Rocks website .

Children must be accompanied by a parent at all times during the conference. You cannot drop off your children at either of these events (or anywhere in the Exhibit Hall or Conference). The Oregon Convention Center is a public venue. We cannot control who accesses the building, so keep your children with you for their own safety.

Who is OCEANetwork?

OCEANetwork is a statewide, nonprofit organization whose mission is to "support, encourage, protect and advance private Christian home education in Oregon as a tool for family discipleship." The five families on the board of OCEANetwork volunteer their time to answer first-time questions, assist support group leaders, travel and speak across the state, promote the vision of Christ-centered families, publish newsletters, lobby to defend home education freedom, and organize an annual conference. OCEANetwork has been protecting and supporting homeschooling in Oregon since 1986.

American Home Education And Discipleship Banner

The Oregon Christian Home Education Conference is one of the American Home Education And Discipleship Conferences held by state organizations and promoted by the National Alliance of Christian Home Education Leadership. The National Alliance is a "support group" for board members of Christian state homeschool organizations. Alliance affiliates are working together to promote their 33 great homeschool conventions in 30 states.
