Children & Young Adults

Children (3 – 12): Children are expected to be with their parents at all times. For their own protection, children under 8  years of age are not allowed in the Used Curriculum Exchange. If you plan to shop in the Used Curriculum Exchange, please make alternative care arrangements for your children (have dad, grandparent or friend watch them while you are shopping). Registration for children ages 3 -12 is $10 each.

Nursing infants and toddlers (0 – 2) may attend with their mother at no charge. You are welcome in the sessions during those times your baby is quiet, but we ask that you leave when the infant is noisy so that others may hear the session clearly. For their own protection, infants are only allowed in the Used Curriculum Exchange if they are in a front pack. No strollers, backpacks or other conveyances are allowed. If you plan to shop in the Used Curriculum Exchange, please make alternative care arrangements for your children who do not fit in front packs. (Have dad, grandparent or friend watch them while you are shopping.)

Young adults (13 and older) are invited to attend the conference with their parents. Young adults 13+ may also attend the Used Curriculum Exchange with their parents if they wish. Registration for young adults 13 and older is $10 each.

Grandparents

Grandparents can be a homeschool family’s greatest ally! To help them see a bigger picture of home education, we invite you to bring your children’s grandparents to the conference. Give them the opportunity to see the hope for the coming generations, rub shoulders with home-educated young people, and hear from some of the best homeschool advocates in the nation.

Grandparents can register for $10 each when registering on the same form as your family. This applies only to grandparents of children being home educated by their parents. It does not apply to grandparents who are home educating their own children or their grandchildren.

Exhibit Hall Only Pass

We believe the curriculum hall and the conference work together to equip you for the upcoming school year. Therefore, we encourage you to register for the whole conference to obtain the best preparation for next year.

However, we recognize there are some who prefer to attend the Exhibit Hall only. Therefore, we will be offering Exhibit Hall Only passes this year for $20 per adult, and $10 for children ages 3+. Children 2 and under are free.  (Children ages 0 – 7 are not allowed in the Used Curriculum Exchange.)

The Exhibit Hall Only pass includes admission to:

  1. Exhibit Hall both Friday and Saturday
  2. Exhibitor Workshops and last general session only
  3. Used Curriculum Exchange (for ages 8+).

For their own safety, younger children (0 – 7) may not be in the Used Curriculum Exchange. Please make alternative care arrangements. (Have dad, grandparent or friend watch them while you are shopping in the Used Curriculum Exchange.)

Individuals with an Exhibit Hall Only Pass will not be able to attend any non-exhibitor conference workshops, or any keynote sessions other than the last one on Saturday. If you find you would like to attend the entire conference, you may apply your Exhibit Hall Only fees toward walk-in conference registration.

Exhibit Hall Only Passes must be purchased at the door. They go on sale starting at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21st, and will be available for purchase throughout the conference. Used Curriculum Exchange shopping times for those purchasing Exhibit Hall Only Passes will be after families who pre-registered for the entire conference.

Free public access to the Exhibit Hall will be offered on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Does not include UCE access.

Single Parents

If you are a single parent raising your family alone and you are homeschooling or want to look into homeschooling, contact the registrar by filling out this contact form.

At-the-door Registration

When you pre-register, you help OCEANetwork with our planning and conference logistics. However, if you have not pre-registered by the date Regular Registration closes (see the table above), you may still register at the door. Walk-in registrations are welcome, so if you miss the Regular Registration deadline indicated above, don’t hesitate to come to the conference and register at the door.

Refunds

If for some reason you find you cannot attend the conference, please notify the registrar by filling out this contact form. We don’t want you to miss any of the great messages, so we will give you credit towards conference recordings in lieu of a monetary refund.

Registration FAQ

1. When does online registration open?

Online registration opens for Members and Donors ONLY at 8:00 a.m. April 16, 2024. General registration opens for everyone at 8 a.m. April 23, 2024.

2. I don’t have Internet access. How can I pre-register?

Contact the registrar, Kayla Robertson, at 503-302-3708 to assist you with your registration. Another option is to access the Internet at your local library, or ask a friend or relative who does have Internet to register for you or download the registration form that will be available when registration opens.

3. Is there an advantage to pre-registering?

Yes, all attendees who pre-register online by June 8 receive a discount. Also, all attendees are assigned a shopping time for the Used Curriculum Exchange based on when they registered for the conference. Pre-registered attendees are assigned a shopping time that is earlier than those not pre-registered attendees. (See question #8.)

4. When does online registration close?

Online registration will close on June 8 by midnight.

5. Online registration has closed; can I still come to the conference?

Absolutely, walk-in registrations are always welcome. However, by pre-registering you help OCEANetwork with planning – and don’t forget you save $10!

6. I’m unable to attend the conference. Is it possible to buy a pass into the Exhibit Hall so I can shop for my curriculum?

We do offer Exhibit Hall Only Passes which may be purchased on-site during the conference. The cost is $20 per adult and $10 per child ages 3 and up. However, we believe the curriculum hall and the conference work together to equip you. Therefore, we encourage you to register for the whole conference to obtain the best preparation for your upcoming year.

7. What does an Exhibit Hall Only Pass allow me to do?

The EHO pass includes admission into the Exhibit Hall both Friday and Saturday, the Used Curriculum Exchange, Exhibitor Workshops, and the final General Session on Saturday. An EHO pass does not allow you to attend any of the other conference workshops or general sessions.

8. I really want to be one of the early shoppers into the Used Curriculum Exchange. How can I be assured that I will be able to shop early?

The best assurance for an early shopping time (*see new hours below) is to volunteer to help at the conference. As a thank-you for volunteering, you will be in the very first group of shoppers to be admitted into the sale. To volunteer, you must first be registered for the conference.

For pre-registered attendees not volunteering, a shopping time will be assigned to you based on when you register. Groups of shoppers are admitted in blocks of 250 shoppers. The first 250 shoppers (8 and up) to register are assigned the first shopping time after the volunteers. The next 250 registrants are assigned the second time slot, etc.

Everyone registered for the conference will have an opportunity to shop. Volunteers enter first, pre-registered attendees next, then walk-ins and EHO passes in that order.

*Please note: shopping hours for the Used Curriculum Exchange have been extended to give you more shopping time. The sale will open for volunteers at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. Volunteers may also shop any time after that. The sale for non-volunteers will run from 1:00 to 6 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. You may shop any time after your assigned admission time, during sale hours. We will offer a gleaners sale Saturday, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

9. How will I know my shopping time?

Your shopping time will be printed on your name tag. For those on an EHO pass, you will be issued an admission pass to the sale which will have your assigned time block.

10. My spouse cannot attend; can I bring a friend in my spouse’s place?

When you register as an individual, your spouse is allowed to come for free. We have structured our fees in this manner to encourage married couples to attend together. Because you are not paying for your spouse, you may not substitute a friend in your spouse’s place.

11. We really cannot afford the cost of the conference this year, yet we would like to come. Is financial assistance available?

Yes, each year others graciously donate towards a benevolent fund.

Parent of Preschoolers – We are inviting parents of preschoolers (the oldest child is younger than 6 on June 21) who haven’t previously attended an OCEANetwork event to attend the conference for FREE! These parents face decisions about their children’s education and we want to help them understand the benefits of home education. Pre-registration for the parents of preschoolers’ admission is required by June 8, so let your friends know today!

To obtain the code for the Parents of Preschoolers Scholarship visit the Registration Information page.

Single Parent – Recognizing that single parents, whether by death of a spouse or by divorce, are carrying the load of both provider and teacher, the Board of OCEANetwork would like to alleviate a small portion of this burden by allowing the single parent to attend the conference for free along with their children. Grandparents may accompany the parent for a small charge of $10 per grandparent. Single parents may fill out this contact form to apply for benevolent admission.

Hardship – Homeschoolers are not immune to unemployment and other hardships which come from time to time often making it difficult to pay even the minimal fee for the conference. With this in mind, OCEANetwork offers benevolent admission for them. To apply, fill out this contact form.

Pastoral/Missionary – Pastors and Missionaries, along with their spouse and children, may receive benevolent admission to the conference by submitting their request on your church letterhead or mission board letterhead to the conference registrar. To get the mailing address or ask questions, please fill out this contact form.

Military – Active military, along with their spouse and children, may attend the conference for free. To apply for benevolent admission, please send proof of military I.D. to the conference registrar. To get the mailing address or ask questions, please fill out this contact form.

To donate to the benevolent admission fund and bless other homeschooling families perhaps less fortunate than yourself go to the donation page on OCEANetwork’s website.

12. I registered for the conference, but am now unable to attend. Can I get a refund?

If for some reason you find you cannot attend the conference, please notify the registrar by filling out this contact form. While we don’t give refunds, we don’t want you to miss any of the great messages, so we will give you credit towards conference recordings in lieu of a monetary refund.

13. I can only come for one day. Do I still have to pay the full registration fee?

Yes, our registration fee is based on a cost per individual, not a cost per day. The cost is the same whether you come for both days or only for one, and it is still an excellent value.

14. Can I bring my children?

Yes, children are always welcome. The cost is $10 per child ages 3 and up. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. All sessions are being recorded. For the sake of the other attendees, if your child or infant is restless, we ask that you excuse yourself from the session.

For safety reasons, only children 8 and up may enter the Used Curriculum Exchange (UCE). Parents may bring infants with them in the UCE, but for their safety the infants must be carried in front packs only – no backpacks or strollers are permitted. If bringing young children to the conference, please arrange for someone to watch your little ones while you shop in the UCE.

During the conference, we do offer Parent/Child workshops for children 6-12. However, at least one parent must attend with his or her children. Lastly, for the safety of your children, please keep your children under adult supervision at all times. The Linn County Expo Center is a public venue.

15. Can I bring my mother to help watch my children?

Absolutely, grandparents are welcome and encouraged to come. Even if you do not need a grandparent to help supervise your children at the conference, invite them to come and give them an opportunity to hear the encouraging messages of the speakers and to see that you are not alone in this journey. They will leave encouraged and your greatest ally for educating at home. The cost is $10 per grandparent.

16. What if I still have questions about registration?

Please contact our conference registrar by filling out this contact form. We look forward to serving you at the Oregon Christian Home Education Conference. (For non-registration questions, contact us here.)
