Oregon Christian Home Education Conference
June 22 & 23, 2018
Linn County Expo Center, Albany, OR

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127:1

Brought to you by OCEANetwork and our generous sponsors.

Homeschooling is an exciting adventure. Just like any adventure, it can be challenging, too. Do you need a boost of encouragement and inspiration? Don’t miss the 2018 Oregon Christian Home Education Conference. The annual OCEANetwork conference is the largest gathering of homeschoolers in Oregon. There’s nothing quite as energizing as being together with more than 1,000 homeschool parents who are on the same adventure with their families as you are.

The speaker line-up this year will inspire and encourage you as we focus on homeschooling for the Kingdom. Keynote speakers Dr. Voddie Baucham and David Barton will inspire you to build on the firm foundation of God’s word. Conference workshops will contain plenty of how-tos whether you are looking for ideas for getting started, homeschooling high school, dealing with special needs, or getting it all done—we’ve got all of that and much more.

The freedom to teach our children at home is a tremendous honor and privilege, and Oregon is a great state in which to homeschool! We look forward to a refreshing weekend June 22 & 23, 2018, at the Oregon Christian Home Education Conference with you.

From 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, the Used Curriculum Exchange will be open for all to shop. When you register for the conference (or purchase an Exhibit Hall Only Pass), you will be assigned a time to shop the Used Curriculum Exchange. Conference volunteers shop first, then those attending the conference will be assigned time blocks based on how soon they register. The sooner you register, the earlier you’ll shop. Everyone will get a chance to shop.

Obtaining Used Curriculum Exchange Tickets*

1. Volunteer to help at the conference: As a thank you for volunteers, you will be in the first group admitted to the Used Curriculum Exchange. Volunteers get to shop Friday afternoon starting early at 12:15 p.m. (or anytime during the regular Used Curriculum Exchange hours).

2. Pre-register for the conference: Used Curriculum Exchange tickets will be issued to those registering for the conference (either online or by mail) in the order the registration is received. The sooner you register, the earlier shopping time block you will be assigned. Online registration opens at 8 a.m. on April 19th.

4. Purchase an Exhibit Hall Only pass at the door. Those purchasing Exhibit Hall Only Passes may also shop at the Used Curriculum Exchange. They will be assigned time blocks after the pre-registered conference attendees’ time blocks.

*Please note: For their own protection, infants are only allowed in the Used Curriculum Exchange if they are in a front pack. No strollers, backpacks or other conveyences are allowed. If you plan to shop in the Used Curriculum Exchange, please make alternative care arrangements for your children who do not fit in front packs. (Have dad, grandparent or friend watch them while you are shopping.)

Therefore, we encourage you to register for the whole conference to obtain the best preparation for next year. However, we realize there are some who prefer to attend the Exhibit Hall only. Therefore, we will be offering Exhibit Hall Only passes. See the Registration Information page for details.

Friday, June 22, 2018 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 23, 2018, 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Scholarship Opportunites
OCEANetwork is delighted to be able to offer some scholarships to conference attendees thanks to generous donations from Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) and various individuals. It is our hope that no family that desires to attend the conference would be prevented from attending due to financial constraints. For the 2018 Oregon Christian Home Education Conference we are offering the following scholarships.

*** Note: For detailed registration information, visit the Registration Information page.

Parent of Preschooler Scholarship

Parents who have never attended the conference before and whose oldest child is under the age of six by the conference date may attend the conference for FREE. Children may attend for a minimal fee of $10 per child. To obtain the code for the Parents of Preschoolers Scholarship visit the Registration Information page. Registration for Parents of Preschoolers begins at 8 a.m. on April 19, 2018.

Single Parent Scholarship

Recognizing that single parents, whether by death of a spouse or by divorce, are carrying the load of both provider and teacher, the Board of OCEANetwork would like to alleviate a small portion of this burden by allowing the single parent to attend the conference for free along with their children. Grandparents may accompany the parent for a small charge of $10 per grandparent. Single parents may contact conference registrar, Joyce Padilla at via email at scholarships@oceanetwork.org or by phone at 503-787-3512 to apply for the scholarship.

Benevolent Scholarship

Homeschoolers are not immune to unemployment and other hardships which come from time to time often making it difficult to pay even the minimal fee for the conference. With this in mind, OCEANetwork offers a benevolent scholarship. To apply for the scholarship, please contact the conference registrar, Joyce Padilla at scholarships@oceanetwork.org.

Pastoral/Missionary Scholarship

Pastors and Missionaries, along with their spouse and children, may receive a scholarship to the conference by submitting their request on your church letterhead or mission board letterhead to the conference registrar, Joyce Padilla, OCEANetwork, 17985 Falls City Rd Dallas, OR 97338 or email her at scholarships@oceanetwork.org.

Military Scholarship

Active military, along with their spouse and children, may attend the conference for free. To apply for the scholarship, please send proof of military I.D. to the conference registrar, Joyce Padilla, OCEANetwork, 17985 Falls City Rd Dallas, OR 97338 or email her at scholarships@oceanetwork.org.

Please note OCEANetwork is no longer offering Work Scholarships. Those receiving scholarships are welcome to help at the conference by volunteering, but it is no longer a requirement in order to receive a scholarship.

To donate to the scholarship fund and bless other homeschooling families perhaps less fortunate than yourself go to the donation page on OCEANetwork’s website.

Conference Volunteers
Conference Volunteers ~ Serving others! We need you!

Every year, dozens of wonderful, servant-hearted conference attendees willingly sacrifice part of their time at the conference. Why? Because they understand that without their help, it would be impossible to have a conference that the average homeschool family could afford to attend.

There are several opportunities for adults and young adults 15 and older who are attending with a parent. Sign up online for the job and shift you want. So you don’t have to feel like you are missing any of the messages, you will receive a coupon for one MP3 download for every session you miss. Most shifts are two-and-one-half hours to three hours long.

You must be registered for the conference to volunteer. You can indicate you want to volunteer when you register for the conference.

If you are already registered, you can contact Kathrina Bisceglia at volunteers@oceanetwork.org or 503-915-8013 to volunteer.

If you specifically want to volunteer in the Used Curriculum Exchange, contact Heather at uce@oceanetwork.org.

We no longer offer work-scholarships, but we do offer Benevolent Scholarships, Single-parent Scholarships, Pastor/Missionary Scholarships and Military Scholarships. View the scholarship information on this page for more information. If you are a recipient of a scholarship, you are welcome to volunteer, but it is not mandatory.

As a thank you for helping the OCEANetwork Conference run smoothly, volunteers will be in the first group to be allowed to shop the Used Curriculum Exchange. Shopping for volunteers will be on Friday starting at 1:00 p.m.

Volunteer positions available at the conference:

Set up crew: Thursday afternoon. Help the vendors unload their products. This job is one of heavy lifting and physical labor. Please do not volunteer to do this if you have health problems or are pregnant.

Morning Greeters: We are looking for friendly, smiling folks who like to make families feel welcome at the conference. Friday, bright and early, 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.

General Session Greeters: Greet people coming into the general session hall, give out handouts, collect evaluations. You get to hear the general session, but need to arrive 15 minutes early and stay a little after the session.

Tear down crew: Saturday afternoon. Help the vendors move out their products when the exhibit hall closes. This job is one of heavy lifting and physical labor. Please do not volunteer to do this if you have health problems or are pregnant.

Used Curriculum Exchange Volunteers: Volunteers are needed Thursday afternoon, Friday, and Saturday to help organize the books for the Used Curriculum Exchange. Sign up when you register for the conference. Or if you have already registered and would like to volunteer for the Used Curriculum Exchange, please contact Heather at uce@oceanetwork.org.

“OCEANetwork provides a plethora of amazing services. I am so thankful for the countless hours they volunteer to protect and fight for our homeschool freedom and to equip us to serve the Lord as we train up our children – especially the yearly conference. Christian homeschoolers in Oregon would be lost without OCEANetwork!”

– Angela

“It’s more than a homeschool support network, it’s a family of believers coming together to give encouragement and positive feedback, as well as come alongside each other in problem solving and fnding resolutions using a combinatino of the law and wisdom from God’s Word. In a nutshell, this OCEANetwork family is a blessing in so many ways to my family and many others!!”
