Can you Bake an Apple Pie?

Apple Pie Day is all about meeting your Oregon legislators – and an apple pie makes that very easy. Apple Pie Day has been a tradition at the Capitol since 1991 and the legislators and their staff look forward to the pies and the friendly families that deliver them. They enjoy meeting you!

If you live in the Willamette Valley, you can bring a homemade pie easily. For those coming long distances, just making the effort to meet your legislator in his Salem office is all that we ask. We’ll have a homemade pie wrapped up and ready for you to deliver.

Those families living in the Eugene, Portland, Salem and metropolitan areas, please volunteer to make a few extra homemade apple pies so that families traveling from a distance have less to juggle.

We need to have a count of apple pies coming to Salem. Please let Hank & Melanie Voorhees know how many pies you will bring (email the Vorhees or or call them at 503-835-0754). Home educators will be distributing 100 pies on Apple Pie Day. That’s a lot of apple pie!

The apple pie has been a symbol of the home school movement for 20 years. It breaks the ice and makes a great gift. Plan to deliver one on March 21, 2013.

Thank you.

Yours for apple pie, motherhood and homeschool freedom.
