Too often, Christ's followers lend credibility to artificial authorities - to posers - who speak persuasively and wield influence. They have "Right seated themselves" in positions of authority because of earned advanced academic degrees. However, as Paul observed, they are "always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth" (II Timothy 3:7). In this session, students will learn to recognize the characteristics of artificial authorities, witness artificial authorities from both church and culture, become adept at discerning the difference between true and artificial authorities, and discover how Christ's followers are to respond with truth and grace.
