Jo Edwards
Jo Edwards holds both BA and MS Ed degrees in special education and is a licensed teacher. After four years with the Alaska State Program for the Deaf she became a stay at home mom, home schooling her two daughters through high school graduation. She also served as a home school support group coordinator for many years. After her own children went on to college, she worked with other home school families, tutoring and assisting with curriculum selection. Her experiences led her to return to school for more training in language arts instruction for learning disabled students and from 1997 through 2009 she focused on private education of students with learning disabilities, teaching 12 years at a small Christian school using a "one room schoolhouse" format. She is presently the special needs advisor at Basic Skills Assessment and Educational Services in Oregon City where she teaches part-time in the Individualized Learning Program classroom; consults with parents of special needs students, provides specialized testing and tutoring and supervises Personally Developed Plans for special needs home school students.
