Our bill to end the discrimination against homeschooled graduates applying for Oregon occupational and professional licenses (HB 4059) is dead. The House Committee on Education’s leadership declined to give the bill a hearing. We do not know the reason.

OCEANetwork Freedom Watch Update: Homeschool Professional Licensing Equity Bill

The Committee heard your phone calls and emails loud and clear. The leadership just decided to kill the bill. OCEANetwork plans to bring back a similar bill next session.

The evidence showing Oregon homeschoolers’ high academic achievement levels is clear. The discrimination against these homeschooled graduates is highly visible. I have confidence we will eventually prevail.

Meanwhile, you may have opportunity this election campaign season — such as at your front door — to talk with your state Representative or Senator. You might tell them of this issue and ask for their support in stopping the discrimination against homeschooled graduates.

Thank you for supporting OCEANetwork as we seek to protect and expand homeschool freedoms in Oregon.
